Lord God of Host, Who covers our sins and forgives our iniquities, I thank you Lord for the opportunity to witness another Ash Wednesday, for all vouchsafed to me in the past year, and keeping me till this day especially in faith. In this same faith Lord, strengthen me, especially for the task ahead of me, in observing this Lenten season, in prayer, fasting, sacrificial giving, self-denial and reflection. Father, Commander of Angels, charge your Angels, to help, guard and guide, me this Lenten season as they did for Christ, the Sacrificial Lamb, in this period of His incarnation. Lord God, from Whom nothing is hidden and all desires known, I pray You cleanse the thoughts of my heart, purify my conscience and sanctify my body, so I may be well enabled to observe this Lent and lead a true Christian life all my days. Almighty, Most High and Ultimate Guardian of faith, take me to the mountain top and let me behold that which You have set out for me in life, so I may as a Lenten pilgrim, get to the destination You have ordained for my good; save me from all perils on the way; and lead me not into temptation in this time of life. Eternal Father, Most Loving and Kind, the Just One, and the Most Merciful, have mercy on me, pardon and forgive me for all my iniquities, save me and redeem me formed anew in Christ, in this Lent season, so at the end of it, on Easter Morning, I may rise, with Christ, born anew in Him – renewed, restored, equipped and strengthened to be successful in all my undertakings – abundant in Your grace, luxuriant in Your love, opulent in Your talents, lush in Your treasures, fruitful in works, abounding in good health and affluent in the midst of want, through Jesus Christ, Your Son, the Treasure of all treasures.
