Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As the season of Lent approaches, we at Emmanuel Chapel invite you to join us on a transformative journey of faith, reflection, and renewal. Lent is a sacred time in the Christian calendar—a 40-day1 period of preparation leading up to Easter Sunday. It’s a season to draw closer to God, examine our hearts, and recommit ourselves to living out the love and grace of Jesus Christ.
This year, we are excited to launch our 2025 Lenten Blog Series, a weekly blog designed to guide you through this meaningful season. Each week, we’ll explore a different theme rooted in Scripture, offering practical insights and actionable steps to help you grow spiritually and deepen your relationship with God.
From the call to repentance and renewal on Ash Wednesday to the triumphant joy of Easter Sunday, this series will walk with you through the heart of Lent. Whether you’re new to observing Lent or have been walking this journey for years, our hope is that these reflections will inspire, challenge, and encourage you.
Join Us in Worship and Community: In addition to this blog series, we warmly invite you to join us for our Ash Wednesday Service on March 5th at 5:00 PM at Emmanuel Chapel. This solemn service will mark the beginning of Lent with prayer, worship, and the imposition of ashes—a powerful reminder of our need for God’s grace and forgiveness.
A Season of Renewal: Lent is more than just a time of sacrifice; it’s a season of renewal. It’s an invitation to return to God with all our hearts, to let go of what weighs us down, and to embrace the new life He offers. As Joel 2:13 reminds us, “Return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love.”
We pray that this Lenten Series will be a source of inspiration and encouragement for you. May it help you draw closer to God, reflect deeply on your faith, and live out your Christianity in practical and impactful ways.
Let’s Journey Together: We’re so glad you’re here, and we can’t wait to walk this Lenten journey with you. Be sure to check back each week for a new post, and don’t hesitate to share your thoughts, questions, or experiences in the comments section. Let’s learn from one another and grow together in faith.
If you haven’t already, mark your calendar for our Ash Wednesday Service and plan to join us as we begin this sacred season together.
May this Lent be a time of deep spiritual growth, renewed hope, and joyful anticipation of the resurrection.
Blessings,
Rev. Tolu Okeowo
- If you count all calendar days from Ash Wednesday to Holy Saturday (including the Sundays), Lent is 46 days in total. However, the six Sundays that fall during this period aren’t officially counted as part of the 40-day Lenten fast, as Sundays are considered feast days commemorating the Resurrection. ↩︎

To walk with God in this lenten period is to walk towards purity of heart and mind; an act of denying oneself from the love and lost of this world.
We should prepare our hearts to walk with God with genuineness and sanctity…
The reward is more than the sacrifice, for its far beyond earthly reward, it’s eternal!

Very inspiring reflection, Rev Al! Walking with God during Lent truly is a journey toward purity and letting go of worldly distractions.May we all walk this path with sincerity, trusting in God’s greater plan!
